A Jewelry Heist Takes Center Stage in Amazon’s Crime 101 Movie

Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry. The movie will hit theaters on February 13, 2026. Set in Los Angeles, Crime 101 tells the story of a mysterious jewel thief (played by Hemsworth) who plans high-risk robberies along the 101 freeway.

While preparing for his last job, he meets an insurance broker (played by Berry), and the two are forced to work together. When a determined detective (Mark Ruffalo) gets closer to uncovering the operation and the multimillion-dollar heist nears its end, the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur, forcing all three to face the consequences of their actions. The cast of Crime 101 also includes Monica Barbaro, Barry Keoghan, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, Tate Donovan, Devon Bostick, Payman Maadi, Babak Tatfi, Deborah Hedwall, Paul Adelstein, Drew Powell, Matthew Del Negro, and John Douglas. The movie is based on Don Winslow’s novella of the same name.

Crime 101 is directed by Bart Layton, known for American Animals and The Imposter. Layton co-wrote the script with Peter Straughan, who won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Conclave in 2025. Crime 101 is produced by Chris Hemsworth, Bart Layton, Ben Grayson, Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, Dimitri Doganis, Derrin Schlesinger, and Shane Salerno. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Raw, Working Title Films, The Story Factory, and Wild Slate are the production companies behind the film. The movie is being produced through a collaboration between several major and independent studios, including Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Raw, Working Title Films, The Story Factory, and Wild Slate, all of which have joined forces to bring Crime 101 to life.
